Travelling with a Toddler
Our favorite ' Cali Mom' is taking a long flight from USA to Pakistan soon and its not that simple.
Whats the catch, any guesses ?
"She is travelling with a TODDLER "
Sending all the luck and white light her way.
Here are some travelling tips for her and all the moms who plan to travel with their little ones:
- If you are not getting seat for your little one ask every gate agent and flight attendant you meet multiple times if the flight's full and if they can move people around so you can get a coveted free open seat.
- Book a night flight (or whenever your LO sleeps)so the little one is tired enough
to sleep.
- Keep the little one's jaws moving during takeoff and
landing to help with ear pressure discomfort ( water, food, pacifier,
conversation whatever works).
- Don't hesitate to get up and walk around with LO.
Sometimes a few minutes in the plane galley or a few trips up and down the
aisle is enough to distract, refresh, and avoid an impending
meltdown.
- Wait with your toddler in the gate area for as long as
you can to burn off a bit more energy before having to sit down.
- Don't offer lots of sugary treats or juice. Nobody
needs to be dealing with a sugared-up toddler at 30,000 feet.
- Time to take advantage of technology, download apps and rhymes for little one.
- Some stickers and a scrap paper or water bottle can keep them occupied.
- Realize, that in spite of all your amazing organization and preparedness, your flight might still be a sh*tshow and you will be THAT MOM with the screaming infant who’s ruining everyone’s flight.
- Don’t stop focusing on your baby and his or her
needs and don’t make eye contact with anyone low enough to shoot a
stressed-out parent some cuteye instead of a helping hand. You’ll never
see these people again, anyway.
We will see how many of these tips actually work when we will cover her travel story.
Have a calm journey
