Mommy Loves Me Inspirational Mom Series
Pashimna Ahmed of 'Plush by Pashmina' is an accomplished fashion designer , a style icon and mother of an adorable 3 years old boy.
What makes her truly inspiring as a mom, is the way she has managed to excel professionally without compromising on the well being of her son and herself.
Here are 10 things she shared about her life with Mommy Loves Me.
1. How becoming a mom has changed your life?
I grew up over
night. I can no longer be indecisive, or procrastinate, or put something off
for the next day, I now take charge, get things done and take responsibility.
2. What’s the most challenging part of motherhood and how do
you mange it?
Less sleep and not being able to just get up and go spontaneously anywhere, everything has to be planned and prepped for. This was the hardest thing for me to accept because I have always been very adventurous and a spur of the moment kind of girl. Time management and division of tasks between hubby and I has helped.
3. As a working mom what is your inspiration and motivation?
I want my son to
see me work, he comes to pick me up from the office (or Offish as he calls it)
and it makes me proud of myself. I want him to see that it’s normal for his
mother or any woman to work and also manage a family life all at the same time.
4. What’s the key to mange work and child together?Work time
should be uninterrupted work time where you focus and give it your all. And
time with your children should be uninterrupted family time where no work comes
in the way of your play time or reading time or just Mama baby lying on the
couch doing nothing time. If you manage this you can manage fine.
5. What do you aspire for your child? To respect others and
to be a kind and giving human being. I aspire for him to follow his dreams but
to work hard and never expect anything to be given to him on a silver platter.
And for him to appreciate everything that his parents do for him and be
grateful.
6. What is one thing you can never compromise on?
My child’s well
being, quality time with my little boy, his sleep routine can’t be compromised.
At the same time my girl time can’t be compromised, I have to have it once a
week even for an hour to just mindlessly talk and eat and watch a movie to
maintain a balance and just switch off for a bit.
7. What’s your secret behind staying in style even with a
toddler?
8. What’s your go-to outfit as a mom? I live in jeans, I have
one in every shade, cut and style, with a baggy tshirt or button down shirt
(usually my husbands) paired with slip on loafers is my go-to look
9. What styling/fashion tips will you give to moms?
Be comfy but be chic I am all about fashion with some
functionality.
10. What advice would you give to moms who want to start
working?
Take your
time. Being a mother and raising a child is also work, don’t feel useless for
not going to work right after having a baby, everything happens in its own
time. And when you do want to go back, go back to something which starts off a
little flexible, so that you can ease into it and manage your time well. Try
not to feel guilty for being away from your little ones, that was my biggest
challenge, it still is infact, but I remind myself that I am doing this for him
and for his future so it’s all good!
